Dear San Diego ISES chapter members and event community, it is an honor to be serving our membership this year. I really look forward to make this a great year for you and, along with your chapter board members, create opportunities for you all to make your business grow, help you obtain your educational objectives and in general host events that bring opportunities for all our event community to get involved, learn and enjoy.

ISES San Diego's 20th Anniversary Celebration and Installation

Over one hundred and ten event and meeting professionals attended the ISES San Diego 20th Anniversary Celebration & Installation on June 17, 2010. Scripps Seaside Forum and the Pacific Ocean created the backdrop for an evening that celebrated the event industry in San Diego over the last twenty years and how ISES has contributed to its education and growth.

The June Bowerman Memorial ISES San Diego Scholarship

The annual ISES San Diego Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 to award funds for qualified student members enrolled in a special event education program. The scholarship program was expanded in 2004 and renamed to honor the memory of JUNE BOWERMAN.

June Bowerman, a founding member of the ISES San Diego Chapter, was a respected and beloved member of the Special Event Industry. Vibrant and caring, June's philosophy was to always give back and she was never too busy to lend a helping hand through education, training, and mentoring for future leaders in the industry to follow. She firmly believed that you always needed to be on top of what's going on in your industry through continued education.

ISES San Diego maintains a strong commitment to educating our future Special Event Industry members. This scholarship is available to both ISES students and industry members wishing to further their professional pursuits through higher education or certification.

Congratulations to our 2010 recipient, Michelle Middleton, who was a 2009-2010 Student Member.

ISES Summer of Networking

On July 28, over fifty San Diego event professionals met at Candelas in Coronado for ISES networking under the warm summer sun. Appetizers, drinks and a festive atmosphere made the first event of ISES San Diego's third decade a rousing success.

Then, on August 3rd, ISES and eight other industry organizations set sail on the Inspiration Hornblower for the biggest networking event of the year. Hundreds of local professionals took to the seas to strengthen business relationships and forge new ones.

CSEP: Do You Have What It Takes?

Do you have the knowledge and experience to become a Certified Special Events Professional? For those who qualify, ISES provides the certification and administers the test to become a CSEP.

Two ISES San Diego board members have begun a study group to obtain CSEP certification.  Please visit  www.ises.com for more information about the test and requirements.
