Here’s your chance to be awarded scholarship monies (up to $500!) to further your professional development or pay for school fees! All San Diego ISES members are eligible, and it’s not too late to complete your scholarship application--the application is due June 29, 2008.

The ISES San Diego Scholarship was established in 2003 to award funds for qualified students enrolled in a special event education program. The scholarship program was expanded in 2004 to award additional funds for a qualified ISES San Diego student member and was renamed The June Bowerman Memorial ISES San Diego Scholarship.

JUNE BOWERMAN, a founding member of the ISES San Diego Chapter, was a respected and beloved member of the Special Event Industry. Vibrant and caring, June was never too busy to lend a helping hand. She served on many committees throughout the years that benefited our industry. June’s philosophy was to always give back, no matter the cost. June Bowerman firmly believed that you always needed to be on top of what's going on in your industry through education. June was heard to say "Pamper the Body ... Encourage the Mind ... Nourish the Spirit."

The scholarship is offered to students currently enrolled in an event planning educational program and also for a qualified ISES San Diego member. The winner(s) will be awarded the scholarship funds at the annual July ISES Installation Event.

A previous student recipient, Jenna Wiebke, remarked that the application process was not hard to complete. She found the scholarship money worthwhile to use toward her classes in event management at USD. When Jenna was awarded the scholarship at the ISES Installation Dinner, a guest who knew June Bowerman, offered Jenna the potential for a new job that evening! Jenna has since moved into a new position with the Picnic People as an account manager for event operations.
